The League of Nations was too weak without the support of the USA. In several situations (Japanese occupation of the Manchuria, Italian occupation of Abyssinia), the League of Nations showed that they couldn´t do more than economic sanctions. Hitler took advantage of this situation and started to rearm Germany. France, Great Britain and Italy formed the Stresa Front against him, but Mussolini still signed a naval agreement with Hitler and the Stresa Front was useless. In 1936 Hitler remilitarizes the Rhineland.
