- April Theses: "Peace, Land and Bread"
- October 1917: Riots started and 20.000 armed sailors took control over Petrograd (St. Petersburg)
- The soldiers of the Provisional Government attacked Petrograd and the Bolsheviks, led by Leon Trotsky, were seen as defenders of Petrograd
- The cruiser Aurora fired one shot on the Winter Palace, the headquarters of the Provisional Government and they gave up
In April 1917, Vladimir Lenin returned from his exile and he became the leader of the Bolsheviks. The Petrograd Soviet helped them to get armed forces. The 20.000 sailors took control and was very important because the Bolsheviks had now also military support. At the end the threat to attack the winter palace was enough to make the Provisional Government give up and get the full power with a bloodless uprising.
