Prohbition
- 1920-1933
- Volstead Act
- WTCU (Woman´s Christian Temperance Union)
- Organised crime (Rum running)
- Creates mobs and gangs (For example Al Capone)
Since woman rights were brought in and woman engaged in politics, one of the main point of woman organizations like the WTCU was the introduction of the Prohibition because they wanted to stop the generalized alcoholism in the male population of the USA. The Prohibiton remained from 1920 to1933 and was also called the Volstead Act. But many people still needed alcohol. This caused the growing of organised crime for illegal obtaining of alcohol (rum running).
